What is a grease trap?
Grease traps generally only apply to restaurants. They catch all of the F.O.G. (fats, oils, grease) before it goes into the septic system or the city sewer system. If left un-maintained, just like a septic tank they will fill up beyond capacity and allow the F.O.G. to reach the septic or sewer system. It will unlikely reach the septic or sewer, but instead just clog up the waste water lines. Following a regular maintenance schedule will avoid emergency situations like closing your business until the problem is solved.
